Two arrested in 78.9 lakh real estate fraud in Kolkata's Beniapukur

The Beniapukur Police have arrested two individuals for their alleged involvement in a ₹78.9 lakh real estate fraud. The arrests were made as part of an investigation under Case No. 166, dated October 4, 2024, registered under multiple sections of the BNS Act. The perpetrators have been identified as Subhajit Roy alias Bhombal (35) and Bikram Roy (24).

The case originated from a complaint by 49-year-old Vishal Dalmia of Ritchie Road, Kolkata. Dalmia alleged that he was duped by two individuals who presented forged and fabricated work orders to induce him into a joint venture for a commercial real estate project in Amaravati, Sodepur. Despite multiple payments totaling ₹78.9 lakh, the promised project was never executed.

Both suspects were arrested from the Barasat Police Station jurisdiction on Thursday night. Police confirmed that the duo misappropriated the funds and were direct beneficiaries of the scam.

The accused were produced before the Learned Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) in Sealdah on Friday. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine if more individuals were involved in the conspiracy and to recover the defrauded amount.
